Tree Decorating Hacks
- Instead of hanging garland directly on the tree, first lay them on the floor and twist a wire hook around it every 20 inches or so. Then, hang those hooks from the branches.
- Get a small potted plant, like mini mums or a Christmas cactus, and place it (pot and all) in a large bowl. Fill the space around the pot with whole nuts, mini pine cones, ornaments or mandarin oranges. Voila – Christmas centre piece
- Slip a tree disposal bag over the base of the tree before putting it in the stand. (Tear a slit for the trunk so the tree can get water!) The bag is hidden under the tree skirt until you’re ready to haul the tree out the door—without leaving a trail of needles through the house. Just remove the ornaments from the tree, pull the bag up like a pair of pants, and you’re on your way.
- When dismantling your artificial Christmas tree, use self-adhesive ‘bandage’ wrap to hold branches in place. The wrap is strong and reusable, it won’t damage the tree and it’s not very expensive.
